Dr. Maurice D Masdeu is a published contemporary American photographer. After 20 years, Maurice was medically retired from military service for blindness in his left eye. After retirement, he was diagnosed with PTSD. He uses his art as therapy.

Maurice's photography explores themes of loneliness and isolation in the context of larger environments, including cities and open spaces. His work is therapeutic, as he tackles those mental disorders after his wartime service. His latest work is entitled insomnia, one of the many symptoms of PTSD that still plagues him.

Gordon Parks, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Elliot Erwitt, Fan Ho, Sebastian Salgado, Bruce Gilden, and Daido Moriyama inspired Maurice's work. In addition, Maurice recently completed a long-term mentorship program under the guidance of Magnum photographer Bruce Gilden. Maurice also draws inspiration from 'Boom Bap'Hip Hop from the mid to late nineties.

Maurice has a Doctorate in Health Science and was recently the Chief Medical Officer for Operation Allies Welcome, overseeing the medical screening and care of 25,000 Afghan refugees to America. He lives quietly with his wife, daughter, and son.
